Day 3

Hi all from Kigali!!!!
We have spent some time with Pastor Raha from Congo. We have to share with you something he told us;

He says he met with the pastors from Bukavu in preparatation for our visit. They decided among themselves that if the Canadians would come for "just one hour" to set foot on their soil, they would consider themselves blessed for a very long time. However if we would actually come for days, in spite of the unrest that has been dominating the news, they would consider it the gift of one thousand years" !!
We are all very tired.
It was very cool in London, and 29 c here.
We spent $142,000. for supper, their currency ( Lee says we are now on the streets begging )
We were met at the airport and it took 1 van and 2 cabs to get into our hotel.
The earth here is red.
We are leaving at 6:00 am (so we still need prayer)
The sunrise looks different here (perhaps because I am so unfamiliar with sunrises)

We will keep posting. The deal here is that I, Doreen, will do the blogging if they will leave me out of the photographs!

Pastor Raha assured us again that safety is not an issue and he is coming on the bus which we rented for our trip into Bukavo.

Day 2

Well what can say about day 2 except these two words no or little sleep we are 7 hours ahead of home. Day 2 was lots of sitting in the airport on a plane. We are all well and don't worry Stan we have taking good care of Doreen. During our 14 hours between flights in London we decided to go looking around. So here are a few pics of day two.

In this pic Laura is holding a sign that says "Doreen" as we were waiting for to return from visiting a long lost cousin.

T - 13 Days

Our desire is to be the hands and feet of Jesus. The Democratic Republic of Congo is a country that has been devastated by war and poverty. There are many hurting people who are in need of physical emotional and spiritual restoration. We are going to Bukavu, Congo to minister to these hurting people, and we are very excited to be a part of the ministry team. To date our church has raised thousands of dollars to support an expansion of the church facilities in the city of Bukavu where many of the rape victims have fled during their time of need. We will be working closely with a local church and hospital, encouraging local pastors and their churches, and supporting the Panzi Hospital however we can.

The Team:

Pastor Darrell & Sharon

Lee & Ruth

Doreen

Joel & Laura

Your Prayer is much appericated.
